Anyone planning to remove 10m2 or less of non-friable material containing asbestos, does not require an asbestos removal licence or certificate. However safety precautions still need to be taken to minimise asbestos fibres getting into the air, and are strongly recommended to undertake this awareness course. .

Bonded asbestos materials include asbestos cement sheeting, often called fibro, used in many Queensland buildings built before 1990. The sheeting was used for roofing and cladding, and can often be found as backing boards in wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

You are a home renovator or handyman and are working on your own property and wish to remove LESS THAN 10sq metres.

You are a tradesman, labourer working at a commercial activity (getting paid for your service) and removing LESS THAN 10sq metres.

For those requiring to remove MORE THAN 10sq metres at a commercial activity as well as homeowners and members of the general public wishing to undertake DIY removal must have the new competency and complete the 1 day training course.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?

Tradespeople or business operators removing more than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos from any location can only carry out this work under the authority of a class B or class A asbestos removal licence issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
